START-UP VALVES FOR UNDERWATER PELLETIZING SYSTEMS

Compared with classic pelletizing systems, underwater pelletizing systems, like the systems of BKG Bruckmann & Kreyenborg Granuliertechnik GmbH have essential advantages and continuously establish more and more.

There are a number of reasons for the use of a diverter valve when operating an underwater pelletizing system:

• Automated and simple start-up
• Constant melt flow directly at the start-up
• Safe discharge of contaminated material
• Fast dividing of the processes in case of failures

KREYENBORG diverter valves are exactly adapted to the application in underwater pelletizing systems of BKG. However, they can also be used with most of the underwater pelletizing systems, being available in the market.

A cone in the diverter valve takes the die plate of the pelletizing systems. Then the water box is directly flanged by means of a stud bolt. Thus the flow paths in the valve are kept very short and the residence times are minimised. In case of a line shutdown the die plate may be quickly removed and exchanged.
