Due to their numerous advantages, gear pumps are well-established in extrusion processes today. However, some operators have experienced the disadvantages of the self-lubrication design, for example, through time consuming product changes, quality losses when processing products which are sensitive to degradation or products having a high demand on optical properties. With the patented self cleaning system from KREYENBORG, the optimal economic and technological advantages are achieved, particularly with frequent product changes or with sensitive products.
CHARACTERISTICS GPE / MB (Masterbatch)
Lubrication flow can be discharged to the outside; avoidance of „black specks“ (Patented KREYENBORG system)
Saving of raw material
Reduction of rejects
Reduced self-cleaning time for colour or material changes
Increase of output due to reduced cleaning time
Suitable for residence time critical or thermally sensitive products such as PC or PMMA
Suitable for optical applications
REDUCED CHANGEOVER TIMES AND REJECT PRODUCTION with colour and product changes
With the MB version of the KREYENBORG gear pump, it is possible to discharge the lubrication flow to the outside during the material change by means of a pair of manual valves. The valves are designed so that they not only lock the recirculation channels in this bypass position but also clean the recirculation channels by flushing the material in them. This function accelerates the self-cleaning of the pump during material and colour changes thus minimizing contamination and material waste.
CONTROLLED DISCHARGE OF DEGRADED PRODUCT with the Masterbatch design
The Masterbatch pump design allows for the processing of thermally sensitive materials which normally burn or decompose in the recirculation channel. Gear pumps of the conventional design allow this material to be circulated back into the main flow, thus contaminating the product (“black specks”). With the MB version, it is possible to discharge the lubrication flow out of the gear pump and therefore out of the process, giving you the power to control the cleanliness of your process when necessary.
